Reflection #2

Aliou CisseFIQWSProfessor Sara JacobsonReflecting Writing #2Through this research essay I discovered that I procrastinated more than I thought. So I told myself that in the upcoming research essay, I will try to overcome that procrastination. However, nothing changed, I still procrastinated the whole research essay although I had a long time to submit it. During the Thanksgiving break, I spent the whole break chilling, and spending time with families, and did not even think of school assignments at all. Now that the research essay is due super soon, I’m under a lot of stress. I realize that this procrastination is not something that I just do sometimes, it’s a habit that I need to break to complete things on time. Instead of just repeating what the research says, I learned how to examine and synthesize evidence in a well-structured manner through this assignment. In this essay, I was at a point in which I was cautious with the analytics, and I understood that effective analysis is about more than simply presenting the facts; it is about revealing something new, detailing something new, and improving the entire story. This research essay was an excellent learning experience for me since it allowed me to explore thoroughly the world of media and its enormous influence on public opinion. The more I learned about the subject, the more I realized how the media can shape public opinion by giving biased or even incorrect facts to favor various points of view. Lastly, this research essay has been a voyage of self-discovery, exposing the ongoing nature of procrastination despite initial efforts to conquer it. The procrastinating habits, which were identified even when I had plenty of time for the task, have highlighted the necessity of taking action to overcome the habit. On an overall academic level, the essay has improved my evidence analytic and synthesis abilities.
